Convening Procurement leaders several times a year from a majority of the partnership’s universities the Working Group is seeking to identify financial efficiencies as well as support community wealth building and maximise positive social and environmental impact of spending.  This is particularly important given the HEIs’ anchor institution status – and the group supports the sharing of best practice between professionals. 

The group is exploring:

• Local spending with SMEs in suitable categories, leveraging a common database of SMEs through West London Business
• Environmental impact and reducing carbon in procurement
• Social value in procurement
• A common approach to working with SMEs, for example tools to assist with complying with HEI procurement/ framework requirements
• Efficiencies through joint procurement in specific categories where there is a proximity advantage in a local supply chain
